The short version

Your logs are stored on your iPhone. BellyCue does not require an account, and your meals, symptoms, bowel logs, mood check-ins, and photos are stored locally on your device. The one exception: to recognize foods, the text and photos of meals you log are sent to our AI parsing service (see "AI meal parsing" below). We do not keep a copy of your logs on a server of our own.

What we store, and where

  • On your device only: everything you log (food, symptoms, Bristol entries, mood, notes, and any meal photos), and your trigger analysis.
  • BellyCue does not transmit this data to us or to third parties, other than the meal text/photo described below.

Microphone, speech, camera & photos

  • Microphone & Speech are used only when you choose voice meal logging. Transcription is performed on-device wherever supported.
  • Camera & Photo Library are used only when you choose to add a meal photo. Photos you log are stored locally on your device.

AI meal parsing

To recognize foods from what you type or photograph, BellyCue sends the meal text and meal photos you log to our AI parsing service, which returns a list of likely foods. This is the only data that leaves your device. We send only the meal text/photo — not your symptoms, identity, or other logs — and we do not store these requests on a server of our own; they are processed to produce the food list and are not retained by us. The underlying AI provider processes the request under their own terms. If the service is unavailable, BellyCue falls back to on-device recognition. Symptoms, bowel logs, mood, and your analysis never leave your device.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.

Analytics & tracking

BellyCue does not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Your control

You can export or permanently delete all of your data at any time from Settings → "You" → Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes your data from the device.

Children

BellyCue is not directed at children under 13.

Medical disclaimer

BellyCue is a wellness and tracking tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, and does not provide medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected in the app's release notes.
